Southsea

So last saturday the time had arrived for our drummer to show what he is made of! could he handle a show with elephants? often plagued by danger and heckling! and with deans bass breaking the day before (thanks marty for helping us out with a bass) and a 7 hour car ride to southsea (it should have taken 2 hours!!) things did not look good.

But it was a total success. Joe did us proud and we smashed it. New songs going down a treat. Although we missed our new label mates UTE we arrived in time to see shoes and socks who played a corker. Needless to say the BSM/Alcopop showcase was the place to be. And we now have a new favourite band called &U&I! (http://www.myspace.com/andyouandimusic)

Oh and an elephants show wouldn't be the same without some drama. There was almost a fight after Pulled Apart by horses! The guy had a very punchable face. I think even his friend wanted to punch him. But although he called Jack-pop "wurzel gummage" (worst insult ever) a fight was avoided and we got back to our hotel in time to watch match of the day!

I think Southsea is my new favourite festival! You should all go next year!

Auditions

So as you know a little while ago George left us somewhat in the lurch. We were desperate to get going again but we needed a drummer, so we put the word out. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Gumtree, Pornhub etc etc.

After a week or so we had about 15 people get in touch. From those some couldnt commit fully, others said the Wombats were there main influence and others were either too young or old. We ended up with 3 potential new drummers.

The other day we held auditions. I was Simowen Kimmel, Tom was Cheryl Burroles or something and Dean was Deany minogue (thats the best one) and we think we may have found the new drummer. Who we have put through to boot-camp. Fingers crosssed we will be able to unveil our new line up and demos of new songs will start to trickle through.

Will keep you posted.

Stong Arms Cover

Well the summer seems to have left us already and if like us you're being battered by gales and drenched by torrential downpours you may be feeling a bit down in the dumps.

Well our good good friends UTE have done us a cover of our recent smash hit "Strong Arms" and i'm not gonna lie it is beautiful. If this track doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside well frankly you're dead inside.

Oh and whilst you're at it check out there own stuff. www.myspace.com/utetheband

George has left elephants, or so i say. No he has.

If you follow us on twitter or facebook you may have noticed we have been looking for a new drummer This is because George Trevor White has decided to leave the band after almost 2 years.

George felt that he no longer had the passion for the band he once had and could not give the rest of us 100%. So it is with heavy hearts we bid farewell to a great friend and awesome drummer. He has left big shoes to fill (and a massive drum stool) but we wish him all the best with his new band Belingo and hope to play some shows with him soon.

More news on a new drummer coming soon.

See you soon George

Singing Lessons

I thought whilst we're taking a break from the band, it would be a good idea to better myself as a musician and as a singer. So i'm gonna get lessons from this guy..

AWESOME!

Summer Holidays

So, yet again this blog has been neglected. But to be honest the band has been neglected of late. It seems a long year has taken its toll on us.

Since Last September we have released 2 Singles, "Alexander" in September '09 and "Strong Arms" May '10. As a track through big scary monsters records and 2 free downloads. One of which was a world cup song for the Ivory Coast.

We have also toured extensively which has included some great shows..Folkestone, Barnstaple, Dorking, London, Oxford. And some terrible shows...Norwich! In a year we have recruited a member, and subsequently got rid of said member.

We've conastantly worked hard and evolved, as musicians, as a band, as friends and now we enter summer and we're tired and broke! So as a band it was decided to have a summer holiday and rest.

Although it's not great timing and in our hearts we want to carry on, we feel that if we rest and and remember why we love being in a band together we will come back in september bigger and better with new songs up oursleeves.

We will return in some form. And new material will be written and recorded and hopefully released on the wonderful alcopop records. Changes May need to be changed but they will be for the better.

Thank you to everyone that has made the past 12 months so memorable and here's to the next 12 months starting in september.

Have a great summer everyone

We were on the tele....briefly!

So a few weeks ago we were asked to play at Mat Hornes (you know him off of Gaving and Stacey) club night. Which we kindly did. 'Cos we're nice and that.

But anyway not only was it really busy and had lots of cool people there. Including Zane Lowe, Orlando from the Maccabees and Luke Pritchard from the Kooks. But MTV turned up to film something for gonzo. We did a whole interview and all that kinda stuff. It was mega lolz. TV gold.

Anyway here it is.......

Update from Tubbs!

Hello friends!

Yes it's George White here writing a little update to blow your minds with current elephants news.

Tom 'producer' Burrows.

Right, so since you've last heard from us our very own Thomas Burrows has invested in some lovely studio gear so we can record music ourselves! So without wasting any time we got to recording two brand spanking new tracks, one of which should be featured as a B side to our forthcoming single on alcopop records, (we'll come to that later!)
Of course home recording isn't the most practical when it comes to recording the old pots and pans, so courtsey of our good friend Dan Lucas we tracked the drums down at Anchor Baby studios in Monks Horton.

After this Tom put a lot of love and care into recording the guitars at his house before tracking the bass and vocals. Some bloody fantastic mixing was done and I'm eagerly awaiting to hear the mastered versions that Owen and Tom picked up from the wonderful Oz Craggs yesterday.

So basically, watch out Abbey road, Thomas Burrows is about!

Strong Arms and stronger legs!

So as previosuly mentioned we're releasing our first single on alcopop records at the end of May! (Turbo exciting).
So for the lead up to this release we have most certainly been on the move, hence the witty title, (I know!)

We've been busy darting around Ftown and surrounding areas taking pictures of anyone and everyone we could find (including one of the staff from 'super pizza') to have their picture printed as one of the 100 physical singles we'll be selling with the release. Make sense? Awesome.

So I hope thats enough stuff to keep you excited for now dear readers, but I'm afraid I bid you farewell as the F1 is on.

Peace!
